Did You Know...
... In one year the moon circles the earth 13 times?... In the current global standard calendar, a
month doesn't correspond to one natural cycle?... The word "calendar" comes from the Roman word,
"Calends", which was the name of the account book, the book recording monthly debts and bills to be paid?
... Time isn't money?... September means seven, but is the ninth month?
... March is named for Mars, the Roman God of War?... July and August are named for Julius and Augustus Caesar? If today is Monday, June 1st, what day of the week will July 1st be?
.... and August 1st? ......... what about November 1st?If you were to build a house, wouldn't you use a ruler of equal measure? The current twelve month calendar is made of months of unequal m
easure:
31 days is followed by 28 or 29 days, then 31 days, 30 days, 31 days, 30 days, 31 days, 31 days, 30 days and 31 days.

In contrast, every moon of the 13 Moon Calendar is exactly 28 days.
This type of calendar, a 28 day-calendar, was actively supported by the International Chamber of Commerce in 1931. The calendar change was supported by people such as Eastman Kodak and Mahatma Gandhi.
The 28-day calendar makes accounting easier and means that any day will fall on the same day of the week, year-after-year.

Although the intents of calendar reform were well-intentioned in the early 1900's, the people of the time knew little of the mathematical accuracy of the 28-day calendar.
The 13 Months of 28-days is not a new idea. The Druids kept a "tree" calendar, a count of 13 moons of 28 days each, plus one day. The Incans, Mayans, ancient Egyptians, Polynesians, and the Lakota peoples also used a 28-day count.
It is called a Moon Calendar because it is based
on the female 28-day menstruation cycle,
which is also the average lunar length.
The measure of the moon, from new moon to new moon, is called the synodic cycle and is 29.5 days in length. However the sidereal lunar cycle which measures the moon from where it reappears in the same place in the sky is only 27.1 days in length. So 28 days is the average lunar cycle.

The mathematical perfection of the13 Moon Calendar can also be exhibited by the equation:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 = 28
The Moon goes around the Earth 13 times in one year:
13 x 28 = 364

+1 day = 365 days
The Moons of the Thirteen Moon Calendar year are as follows:
Each year, the 13 Moon Calendar remains constant. The first moon, or New Year's day, always begins on July 26.
The synchronisation or New Year's day corresponds to the rising of the great star Sirius. This makes the 13 Moon Calendar a tool for harmonising ourselves with the galaxy.

Each moon lasts 28 days. The current Moon, the Galactic moon lasts from February 7 to March 6.
Each Moon has four weeks or 28 days. Today is day 22 of the 28 day cycle.

One of the great advantages of the 13 Moon Calendar is that day/date calculations are amazingly simple.
The Gregorian calendar makes day/date calculations very difficult because the months are of unequal measure so the days and dates of the week vary from month to month and year to year.
The Gregorian correlate dates are found at the bottom of each 13 Moon date. Your birthday will always be on the same day of the same 13 Moon week.
February 28 is always day 22 of the Galactic Moon every year.
And that ends the tutorial.
